Growing Collection of Human Voices - Audio Release Form

Dataset

Description

The Growing Collection It is one of our goals to build up a collection of recordings from different communities around the world, which will help us to answer questions about the function and features of speech produced for different listeners. We are particularly interested in how child directed speech might highlight aspects of language which might facilitate learning, and how these features might differ from other types of speech. The more vocal recordings we add to this collection, the more powerful it will be in helping us to answer these questions. Data in the Growing Collection archives have been collected with the use of Release Forms in which people agree to the their audio recordings being made public. People who have agreed to release their audio into the Growing Collection have indicated their agreement using this form. Note that this Audio Release Form can be used with people whose voices are recorded for a certain purpose (e.g., creating stimuli for a study), and for participants in psychological/linguistic studies, where analysis of the voice is one of the primary targets of investigation. According to the team's research protocols, Release is separate from the Informed Consent to participate in a particular study, as some participant may want to participate, but may not want their audio to be made public. In line with this logic, Informed consent is collected before the recording begins, while Release Forms are completed at the end of a recording session - when a participant has knowledge of what is included in the recording. These release forms can be adapted for other purposes.
