Biography

Jeremy is currently a lecturer in the School of Social Sciences, teaching under the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Core curriculum. He received his PhD in Communication Studies from Nanyang Technological University. His research focuses on the psychological and behavioral outcomes of media use, particularly in the contexts of digital media and interactive technologies. His research projects have involved investigations into how people behave and respond to social media, video games, virtual reality, and other online digital environments. For example, he has examined how people use the social simulation game Animal Crossing to manage their psychological needs during the Covid-19 pandemic. He has also examined how virtual reality self-training systems can help older adults acquire essential skills at their own pace. In addition, he is interested in topics on equality, identity, and popular culture.
