Biography
Lisa Winstanley is an Assistant Professor in the School of Art Design & Media at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. With 20 years of commercial experience and over a decade of international research and teaching, she explores ethical and collaborative design practices and pedagogies. Her creative work has received over 90 international design awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, five A’ Design Awards, three Gold Graphis Awards, two iF Awards, and a Platinum Spark Award. Her work has been internationally showcased at over 130 exhibition venues in 27 countries, such as the Oculus in New York, Moholy-Nagy University of Art & Design in Budapest, the National Museum of Art in Bolivia, and the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in South Korea.
Lisa’s scholarly research investigates transformative pedagogical approaches for interdisciplinary collaboration, with an emphasis on developing visual literacy. More specifically, she explores ethical challenges in visual communication by addressing visual plagiarism, for which she has been awarded an AcRF Tier 2 grant from MOE. She advocates for visual integrity, promoting ethical mindsets in the production and consumption of art and design to support design communities and foster positive change. In addition to her academic and research pursuits, Lisa serves as a Board Member of the C-IDEA International Education Association and is the current chair of the Global Undergraduate Awards Jury for the Visual Arts Category.
