Biography
Michelle completed her MA in Linguistics and Multilingual Studies at NTU in 2021. Her thesis titled 'A Sketch Grammar of Singapore Fuzhou' details the phonology, word classes, phrase and clause structure of this endangered language. Previously, she worked on information structure of subordinate clauses in Miriwoong, an aboriginal language in Western Australia, for her undergraduate thesis.
Beyond linguistics, Michelle has also assisted in historical and sociological research projects. Her internship experiences also include working in journalism, public relations and ghostwriting for a book. She also has taught primary to JC students as a freelance tutor.
During her free time, Michelle likes to volunteer and learn new languages. She is passionate about aiding disenfranchised communities find a voice, like the migrant literary scene.
