Biography
LG's research focuses on social informatics of knowledge, the interdisciplinary study of the interplay among emerging information technologies (IT), people, and their cultural or institutional contexts in knowledge practices. Understanding of their interrelationships is fundamental to managing the design, uses, and consequences of IT in knowledge-intensive endeavours. Phenomena of her research interest include mutual shaping of knowledge work and artificial intelligence, lifelong learning in the digital age, and smart technologies for resilient and sustainable urbanisation. LG has employed a variety of research methodologies in these projects, including survey, interpretive case study, social network analysis, text mining, design science, and action research.
As a principal investigator, LG has received a total of more than SG$1,300,000 in research funding from government agencies as well as industry partners. She serves on the editorial review board of NTU Tier-1A+ journals such as International Journal of Information Management, and programme committee of conferences organised by the international Association for Information Systems (AIS). LG has received several best paper awards, top-cited-article awards and COVID-19 Learning Action Award by the Association of Information Systems (AIS).
