Biography

Darren obtained his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of New South Wales, Australia. He has research interests in the field of nano multi-functional membrane for clean water and energy production, and heavy metals stabilization, particularly in applying physical and chemical principles for fundamental research and application. Recently he is heavily engaged in the study of nano materials for water and energy production including nano confinement catalytic oxidation membrane, TiO2 based nano-structured/fiber/tube membrane and printing nano fiber NEWSkin for healthcare application. Externally, Darren holds Shimizu Visiting Professor, Stanford University, USA, Visiting Professor, Shandong University, China and Visiting Professor, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He is an International Water Associate (IWA) Fellow, Chair for IWA Specialist Group on Chemical Industries, International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) Fellow. Darren was the recipient of many national and international awards such as IWA Innovation Award 2008, UK; Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award 2008 from Institute of Engineering Singapore; Nanyang Award for Innovation and Research 2009 by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; President Award from President Akira Fujishima of Tokyo University of Science, March 2013, Japan; President Award, Institute of Chemical Engineering, UK 2019; Best Innovation and Enterprise Awards, Business Time and OCBC Bank, Singapore 2021.
