Description
The convergence of nanotechnology and medicine offers new opportunities for improved health care, in which nanotechnology-enabled diagnosis will facilitate timely clinical interventions and mitigate patient risk and disease progression, while nanotechnology-based disease targeting will lead to safer and more effective treatments with fewer side effects. The NanoIGI Project assembles a new team of leading multidisciplinary investigators and clinicians in nanomaterials, bioconjugation chemistry, imaging sciences, biomedical engineering, and clinical trials in cardiac and lung applications - to advance an innovative two-phase research program that will pursue the development of nanotechnology into commercially viable, clinical trial-ready products and effective tools with positive health impacts for all Canadians.
