Analysis of C-core sandwich plate decking

Abstract

In this paper, the elastic constants for a c-core sandwich panel are summarized. In particular, the explicit expression representing the shear stiffness in the weaker direction is derived. Numerical examples are presented and the results obtained from the thick plate bending analysis utilising these constants, are found to be in excellent agreement with the full 3-D finite element analysis. In comparison to the finite element analysis. In comparison to the finite element analysis, the computation effort for the thick plate bending model is significantly smaller.
