Abstract

We present a high resolution electron microscopy analysis of the high Tc superconductor Pb2Sr2Y0.5Ca0.5Cu3O8 prepared by reacting PbO and the superconducting compound Sr2Y0.5Ca0.5Cu3Ox. The structure of intergrowth minority phases in this material allows understanding of the microchemistry of synthesis, as well as permitting a microstructural interpretation of observed superconducting properties.
