Abstract
The work-energy relation of active constrained layer was studied through a variational approach, and extended for the control of sound radiated from vibrating structure. Theoretical analysis indicates that, the work done by external force to structure can be regarded as two parts: one is completely dissipated by active and passive damping; the another is dissipated in the form of sound. The results provide a new approach for active structural acoustic control.
