Abstract
The critical cooling rate for glass formation in Zr66Al9Cu16Ni9 alloy was evaluated to be 4.1 ± 1.0K/s from data obtained by differential thermal analysis compared with predictions between 0.2 and 40K/s from Uhlmann's kinetic model of glass formability. The dependence of viscosity on temperature for the alloy was determined from thermal measurements based on the method developed by Chen.
