Abstract

The reaction of [Cp*RuCl2]2 (7) (Cp* = η5-C5Me5) with S(CH2CH2S-)2 (tpdt) and trithiacyclononane (9S3) gave the monomeric complexes Cp*Ru(tpdt) (6) and [Cp*Ru(9S3)](PF6) (8) as dark purple and yellow crystals, respectively. Treatment of 6 with 7 and [(C6Me6)RuCl2]2 (2) led to the isolation of Ru-Ru bonded complexes [Cp*Ru(tpdt)(Ru(Cl)Cp*](PF6) (9) and [Cp Ru(tpd-(tpd)(Ru(C6)](PF6) (10) as dark red and purple crystals, respectively. The complexes, 6 and 8-10 have been spectrally and structurally characterized.
