Abstract

Dielectric suppression and blue-shift in photo luminescence and absorption originated from enhancement of crystal field in nanometric semiconductors was studied. Surface bond contraction and the rise of surface-to-volume ratio of the semiconductors was found to be responsible for the observed optical behavior. Results showed the consistency between the model prediction and the observations.
