Abstract

The direct assembly of anisotropic layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanocrystals on spherical template for fabrication of drug-LDH hollow nanospheres was studied. The precursor Mg2Al-LDH nanocrystals (LDH-NCs) were synthesized using a similar method from the solution of Mg(NO3)2 and Al(NO3)2 in the presence of NaOH in pure methanol. The XRD pattern of LDH-NCs indicates the formation of LDH structure with a rhombohedral symmetry, estimating the thickness of LDH-NCs based on the fwhm of the basal plane is 10 nm. the carbon nanospheres (CNS) prepared, is reported to have a negative zeta potential of -13.4 mV due to its abundant surface hydroxyl groups. The reconstruction of the resultant oxide product to LDHs intercalated with drug anions performed in ethylene glycol with a controlled amount of water.
