Excellent microwave absorption properties of a nitrided Y2Fe12Co4Si alloy

Abstract

The influence of nitriding on the static magnetic properties, electromagnetic parameters and microwave absorption properties of Y2Fe12Co4Si alloy were investigated. The results demonstrated that nitriding improved the electromagnetic parameters and microwave absorption properties of the Y2Fe12Co4Si alloy. The improvement of electromagnetic parameters is due to an increase in the Snoek limit and the polarization of the Y2Fe12Co4Si alloy due to nitriding. The nitrided sample exhibits better impedance matching performance and electromagnetic loss capability due to its higher electromagnetic parameters. With a thickness of 1.23 mm, the maximum effective absorption bandwidth achieves 6.91 GHz (11.00–17.91 GHz), and the minimum reflection loss reaches –55.9 dB.
