Abstract
In this paper, the dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) with figure of merit larger than 200 at 1550 nm has been fabricated by plasma chemical vapor deposition (PCVD). PCVD allows for a more precise and fine control of the refractive index In addition, as the efficiency of PCVD is relatively much higher, DCFs can be fabricated faster with less material, which will reduce their cost.
