Abstract

Students from 8 secondary schools collaborated to design interdisciplinary projects. These tasks were created at an earlier stage by their teachers who then facilitated the on line collaboration process involving the students. A total of 360 students were involved in this on line collaboration. They were involved in 68 groups spanning 8 project tasks. The teachers first got to know each other, crafted the project tasks in groups, received just-in-time training, streamlined the objective of the project task that their students were involved in and facilitated the on line discussion and complemented classroom learning to ensure that the students completed the project tasks successfully. This paper analyses and describes the processes and procedures that were put in place for the teachers to facilitate on line discussion and describes how the teachers complemented classroom learning for the completion of the project tasks.
