Abstract

This book integrates insights from studies conducted across Asia to provide a comprehensive account of the fake news problem in the region. Emerging from a study on how Singapore stakeholders define, determine, and deal with online falsehoods, the volume expands to cover numerous Asian contexts, all of which have experienced the problem in not only similar but also unique ways, coupled with diverse cultures and media regulatory contexts. Drawing from specific examples and case studies to demonstrate the real-world manifestation of the concepts and theories on fake news, the book grounds academic research in lived experiences. This volume will interest journalism scholars and undergraduate and postgraduate students in the areas of media studies, mass communication, digital media, media literacy, Asian studies, and political communication.
