Abstract

The article provides an overview of the main geological formation in Singapore, including the igneous rocks of granite and norite, the various sedimentary rocks, the Quaternary deposits and the recent Marine Clay deposits. The geological and geotechnical properties of each geological material are described and discussed. The paper attempts to provide the essential geological and geotechnical information for the design and construction of underground structures in Singapore. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
