Abstract
Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) exhibits excellent electro-optical, acousto-optical and nonlinear optical characteristics, and therefore, it has been widely used for both bulk and integrated optics. Due to the fact that Er3+ doped materials can produce a lasing action at 1550 nm for optical communication and an up-conversion emission at 543 nm with NIR excitation for diode pumped solid state laser (DPSSL) applications. This article discusses the up-conversion emission study of sol-gel derivered Er3+ doped LiNbO3.
