Abstract
Digital libraries are a fast-growing area, and current digital libraries are becoming more complex. From a pilot study conducted on three sample digital libraries, navigation within digital libraries is still not desirable. "Lost in hyperspace" is still a problem in digital libraries. This paper examines design objectives used by designers of these digital libraries, and analyses whether these design objectives take into consideration the needs of end-users.
