Abstract

The reaction of the cluster Os64-Sb)(μ-H)2(μ-SbPh2) (μ32-C6H4)(μ34-C12H8)(CO)15, 1, with excess tBuNC resulted in ring expansion via metal-metal bond cleavage to afford the novel compounds Os64-Sb)(μ-H)(μ-SbPh2)(C6 H5) (μ34-C12H8) (CO)14(CNtBu)4, 2, and Os6-(μ4-Sb)(μ-H)(μ-SbPh2) (C6H5) (μ34-C12H8) (CO)15(CNt-Bu)3, 3, both of which contain five-membered Os3Sb2 rings.
