Abstract

"In-situ" γ-NiCrAl/TiC/Cr7C3 composite coatings were fabricated on substrate of γ-TiAl intermetallic alloy with NiCr-Cr3C2 alloy powder pre-coatings using laser surface alloying. The effect of constitution of the pre-coating alloy powders on microstructure of the composite coatings was investigated using OM, SEM, XRD and EDS. Wear resistance of the laser treated samples was evaluated under dry sliding wear conditions, and the oxidation resistance was tested at 1 000°C in resistance furnace. The laser surface alloyed γ-NiCrAl/TiC/Cr7C3 composite coatings on γ-TiAl intermetallic alloy have high hardness, good wear and high-temperature oxidation resistances.
