Abstract
This chapter examines millennials and baby boomers’ approaches toward authenticating and verifying online information. Guided by the framework of audiences’ acts of authentication (3As), this chapter finds that these two cohorts’ strategies in verifying online news are highly nuanced. Often, the strategies adopted are shaped by their past experiences and the personal relevance attributed to the news.
