Abstract

In this paper we study the performance degradation introduced by narrowband interference to a transmitted reference ultra-wideband system with inter-pulse interference mitigation capability operating under the IEEE 802.15.4a channel model. The degradation is mainly due to the cross correlation of interference and noise components in the auto-correlation receiver. System performance can be improved drastically by applying either FIR or IIR notch filter. The biterror-rate sensitivity to the design parameters of the notch filter is explored. In addition, system performance is analyzed when the interference is completely removed.
