Abstract

Direction of arrival(DOA) estimation for wideband signals is a key issue in array signal processing. The widely adopted coherent signal subspace method(CSSM) focuses the signal subspaces at various frequencies into a common one through focus matrices preprocessing. The preliminary DOAs estimation is required by the classical CSSM to compute the focusing matrices. But the error of preliminary DOAs estimation sometimes will degrade the performance of the classical CSSM seriously. In this paper, we propose the new wideband DOA estimation algorithm for planar arrays which is also a kind of CSSM but does not need the initial DOAs estimation. Computer simulation is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of our algorithm.
