Abstract

Synthesis of pyrochlore-free lead magnesium niobate (PMN) powders and ceramics was carried out using high-energy ball milling. X-ray diffraction patterns of the powders were analyzed and grain size was determined. Field emission scanning electron microscopy was used to study the microstructure of the sintered powders. Dielectric and ferroelectric properties of the ceramics were investigated. The results show that high energy ball milling process can be used to efficiently prepare PMN powders and ceramics.
