Abstract

Proton NMR relaxation time measurements were carried out on solid L-leucinamide. Transverse relaxation, spin-lattice relaxation in the laboratory and rotating frame, and spin lattice relaxation in the dipolar field were measured. The effects of deuteration of the amino groups were also examined. It was found that, unusually for a simple solid, transverse relaxation consisted of two Gaussian components which could be assigned separately to aliphatic and amino groups. Spin-lattice relaxation was driven mainly by methyl group rotation at low temperatures and amino group rotation at high temperatures.
