Abstract
Geosynthetic tubes have been used in recent years in many projects related to coastal protection, dike construction, flood control and waste sludge dewatering purposes. The geosynthetic mattress method that uses flat mattress like geosynthetic containers have also been developed and used in several projects. The applications of geosynthetic tubes and geosynthetic mattresses are summarized in this paper. The existing analytical methods for different kinds of geosynthetic tubes are also summarized and critically reviewed in this paper. Methods for experimental studies and numerical analysis of geosynthetic tubes and mattresses are also reviewed and discussed.
