Abstract

Researchers prepared two novel polymer semiconductors containing dithieno [3,2-b:2,3-d]pyrrole (DTP) and bithiophene units for organic thin film transistors (OFET). The two showed good solubility in common organic solvents and high thermal stability. The FET devices made from them with a bottom contact geometry exhibited good performance under ambient conditions with the mobility up to 0.11 cm2 V-1S -1and the current on/off ratio close to 104. The results showed that the polymers containing DTP and bithiophere units are a novel class of solutions processable semiconductors potentially for printed electronics. The annealed thin films exhibited the crystalline characteristic with a strong primary diffraction peak at 2θ=4.6°, which corresponds to an interchain distance of 19.2 Å.
