Abstract

Use of singular system analysis in optical systems can provide significant computational advantages for signal propagation and representation. Furthermore it allows insight to be gained into the performance and suitability of an optical system to a given task. In this talk we shall consider singular system analysis within the context of high numerical aperture electromagnetic focusing and imaging problems. Consideration will be given to the coherence properties of light and how singular system analysis also allows further computational gains to be made.
