Abstract

Acoustic cloak is a new conceptual device which can control the propagation of sound wave conveniently. Reduced design is necessary and the energy loss is inevitable for practical application. In this paper a kind of the reduced acoustic cloaks with energy loss is discussed base on transformation acoustics. Complex mass density and complex bulk modulus are introduced to analyze the energy loss due to the viscosity and thermal conductivity of the cloak system. The scattering characteristics of the reduced cylindrical acoustic cloak are obtained through analytical study. A thermal-viscous parameter is derived to describe the energy dissipation property of the reduced cloak. The theoretical results can benefit the performance evaluation and the optimization design of the reduced acoustic cloaks.
