Abstract

Optically active ene—carbamates derived from (S)-phenylglycine were allowed to photochemically react with a variety of (alkoxy)(alkyl)chromium—carbene complexes. Cyclobutanones were formed in fair to good yield with generally excellent control of stereochemistry.
