Abstract

Abstract Synthesis, characterization and crystal structures of complexes of 2-pyridine carboxaldehyde-N-methyl-N-2-pyridyl hydrazone (hereafter referred to as pamph) with zinc(II) [Zn(pamph)Cl2] (1), and manganese(II) [Mn(pamph)Cl2] (2), have been reported. In both 1 and 2, pamph is tridendate ligand and the complexes are penta coordinate with MN3Cl2 core. Further characterization using spectroscopic techniques was made. The experimental structures have been compared with the minimized structures obtained from DFT calculations. Structural and physical aspects of both compounds were analyzed thoroughly and discussed.
