Abstract

In recent issues of Joule, Zhi and coworkers reported two types of hydrogel-based electrolytes: a water-rich (68 wt %) hydrophilic-hydrophobic hydrogel with 3.3 V voltage window and a high temperature (90°C) tolerance hydrogel with 99% Coulombic efficiency. We highlight these intriguing results and offer insights into future hydrogel electrolyte design.
