Abstract
Using transient absorption spectroscopy we investigate the ultrafast dynamics of the electronic excited state of nitrogen-vacancy defects in diamond for temperatures 10K-300K, observing vibrational relaxation times of 40fs and temperature-dependent bi-exponential anisotropy dynamics related to electron motion between the Jahn-Teller-distorted orbitals.
