Abstract

Nanographene synthesis mostly relies on solution-phase approaches. However, the polyarene structure promotes strong intermolecular stacking interactions, which limit material solubility. Mechanochemistry, a synthetic tool that does not rely on material solubility, lends itself perfectly to overcoming these challenges. Recent advances underline the power of this growing synergy between molecular graphene materials and mechanochemical synthesis.
